I'm baaaaack!

I have officially set a new blogging record. I am blogging only 11 months and 23 days since my last blog'cast'---instead of 12 months.
I am laughing at my last entry which was oh, so optimistic regarding my future blogging schedule.
Well, my 12 sweet months of maternity leave have flown by. My son is now 1 year and 20 days old. He is a genius--of course---did I tell you about the time he was eating a grape. . .
Anywhoo-- I have barely checked my email and sent out the obligatory baby pics, let alone had a serene moment to sit and reflect on my life and experiences.
I am awash with emotions as I enter back into the workforce--anxiety, joy, saddnes, jealousy.
Anxiety--will I remember how to teach (my 'teacher printing' has gone right down the toilet)
Joy--I will be teaching (something I spent 5 years of education and countless $$ on) and I love it
Saddness--I will not be spending every waking moment with my little boy (and my chihuahau--oh ya, and my husband)
Jealousy-- My husband will be seeing all the daily changes of our little one and I will be told about it instead of witnessing it first hand

This July I will be turning 35. I feel like I have finally grown into adulthood over the past 5 years. It is a good thing "70 is the new 50" because I am taking a long time to grow up!
It is discusting, but all the trite things you hear parents say about having children are true!--it is the best thing that ever happened to me---and I don't remember my life without my son!
Sure all the stuff about not having time for yourself is true too--but it is worth it!
I am lucky to have a spouse who is equally into parenting our child---I think that must make all the difference in one's fatigue level.

I am very happy at this time in my life. I hope that when I am feeling stressed out, by being back at work full-time, and when I get those feelings that I am not doing anything right--I can look back on this blog entry and remember the bliss of being a new mom.

Sum-Sum-Summertime!

Yikeseola! Has another summer arrived already!?
How can one tell? By the sunshine, the mosquitoes, the flip-flops? No!!! by the fact that I am posting on my blog again!

I have gone through a lot of changes since my last post. Not the least of which has to do with the infant latched to my breast as I am trying to type with one hand and turn my brain on to come up with something witty to say.

Yes I have joined the club of motherhood--and it is grand!

I hope to be blogging more now that I am on maternity leave until - - wait for it . . . Sept '07! yip ya!

Little Miss and Missy G Authors in the Making

My friend's 7 year old daughter and I are going to write a book together. We were inspired by 3 hermit crabs which she found at the beach. They were soooooo cute. There was a Papa hermit crab, a Momma hermit crab AND a Baby hermit crab. Can you guess which folk tale we have been inspired by . . .?
The current working title is: GoldieKrill and the Three Hermit Crabs

Watch for the book on this site before Sept. 05
To be published under our own publishing house of: Eureka Working Clubs Inc.

I am having the BEST time here in Eureka Nova Scotia!

*SIGH* I am leaving tomorrow afternoon and will arrive in Vancouver at about 9:00 pm

Eclectica 2005 An Evening of Woman's Art

Hey all,
If you are around the "wack" (aka Chilliwack) on Thursday June 16 (that's this coming Thursday) you're invited to an evening of art and discussion (or not) at the Chilliwack Arts' Centre Downstairs Lounge. My friend Julie Sharman and I are hosting an evening exhibit of art from Fraser Valley woman (and girls!).
The gig is from 7-9 pm.
Friends are gathering at our place 46152 First Avenue (plenty of parking in the alley) starting at 5:30 for pre-beverages as I don't have insurance for the space rental to cover boozen ( only punch and a few goodies etc.)
Maybe even door prizes if I can get it together!!!

Hope to see you there!

PS Gals who I am expecting work from should have it dropped by my place (see above address) by Tuesday the 13th. I will be taking a photo of you to mount by your work. I also need the title of the piece(s) and your birthday as time has become a loose theme for the exhibit.
Thanks again for your interest and support!

Feist

I am really enjoying Feist's album --When I heard an interview with this Canadian gal (I think) who lived in New York and then moved to Paris and recorded this album (again my facts may not be correct--but this is what I remember)--I thought she just sounded like an Edith Piaf/ Nico clone---but now I think she may have been inspired by these gals --but has made it her own

Eclectica 2005

Hey all,
I am hosting an art exhibition of female artists of the Fraser Valley. For those of you bringing me work I need it by June 9 (that weekend). I am going to take your photo when you drop it off --to display by your piece.
The exhibition is one glorious night 7-9pm at the Chilliwack Arts Centre Downstairs Lounge
People are welcome to come by our place between 5:30 and 7 for a little pre-party.
Please make sure you a bring a designated driver---or we can walk to the Art Centre---as there will be refreshments at our abode.
I am totally psyched about this. My friend Julie has been a real inspiration in getting me mobile--Thanks Missy J!

So for you Joanne---the only person I know that reads my blog---I have finally put another entry----it only took me 6 months!
I will have more posts in the near future!

I actually wanted to start a 'zine' this summer---page one is now complete'ish'---and Chris suggested that I post it as my free homepage at uniserve.com---well 2 months later and I have barely gotten around to that part. THERE'S GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY!!!
It is blogging!!
So my blog will serve as my little 'zine' aka Vizine

Quickie Festival Visit:
Is it possible to enjoy the many events and activities of the Harrison Festival of the Arts in less than 5 hours? I know this is a question on many of your minds. The short answer is YES!
Jules and I: visited many of Harrison’s unique shops, reflected on a small art exhibit (curated by the multitalented Tasha Bollerup), enjoyed a greasy and delightful lunch while listening to the South Asian inspired jazz group Autorickshaw, parused the arts and crafts tents, and topped the day off with Ice cream cones while enjoying blues riffs.
The last time I visited the Festival was the summer of 1990 (Yikes!). This year’s event was well organized, welcoming and a wonderful way to meet local artisans. There were pottery artists from Abbotsford and Langley and (my favourite) a jewlery artist/Grade 3 teacher from White Rock. *

Sass update:
Toe rings--yes or no?
My vote is YES! With of course a maximum of 2 toe rings. These eclectic jewelry items may be worn on either foot--or even two rings on one foot (if you dare!). To my knowledge there is no toe ring morse code/ subtext, ie: toe rings worn on the left foot mean that you are liberal and open to anything --wink, wink! *

Missy G says:
“Observable Belly flab is for the 18 and under crowd.”

Of course big is beautiful, but must we be faced with rolls of unclothed, pasty bellies everywhere this summer?!? Hey I don’t want any young girls feeling like they have to lose weight to fit into this summer’s all too revealing day wear, but there is no excuse for adults (18+) to be featuring their flab in low risers and too short tank tops! Ladies, ladies grab a light weight cotton cover shirt or summery cardigan and save us all from seeing what was only meant for sweethearts! *
PS According to the fall fashion-ites Skin is out this season!!! Hallellujah
